There are no rules regarding rooms
Four categories have been created for building houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. These include EWS, LIG, MIG-I, MIG-II categories. Applicants in the EWS category should have a total space of 30 square meters i.e. 323 square feet. Whereas applicants in the LIG category should have a total space of 60 square meters i.e. 646 square feet. Applicants in the MIG-I category should have a total space of 160 square meters i.e. 1722 square feet.
Whereas in MIG-II category, applicants should have a total space of 200 square meters i.e. 2153 square feet. How many rooms you build in this depends on you. The government has not made any rule regarding this. That is, if you want, you can build more or smaller rooms. If you want, you can build fewer but bigger rooms.
Income should not be more than this
If an applicant applies in the EWS category, then his income should not be more than ₹ 3 lakh per annum. On the other hand, the income of the applicant applying in the LIG category should not be more than ₹ 6 lakh per annum. Similarly, for the applicant of MIG-I category, the income should not be more than ₹ 12 lakh.
So, for applying in MIG-II category, the income should not be more than ₹18 lakh. Along with this, there should not be any house in the name of any member of the applicant’s family. Otherwise, benefits will not be given under this scheme.
